AFFORDABLE CARE ACT (ACA) HEALTH INSURANCE MARKETPLACE ASSISTANCE - CERTIFIED APPLICATION COUNSELOR | CENTERS FOR FAMILIES AND CHILDREN - THE

Provides certified Assisters (Certified Application Counselors) who aid individuals in navigating the Affordable Care Act Marketplace as well as Medicaid and Medicare. Assesses individual health insurance needs, educates about basic health insurance issues, provides information on health insurance plans, helps individuals register and obtain health insurance through the Marketplace, and screens for expanded Medicaid eligibility.

M-F: 9:00am-5:00pm; Two Saturdays each month (phone or check web site for specific dates): 8:30am-2:30pm. Will assist those who may qualify for "special enrollment" any time if they have had a "qualifying life event," such as starting or leaving a job, certain changes in income, and/or changes in family size (for example, if they have marry, divorce, or have had a baby.) Note: Individuals must act within the first 60 days of the "qualifying life event" to qualify.

Fee

No fees for Assister services. Insurance plan costs will vary depending on the kind of plan one qualifies for and/or chooses to purchase through the Marketplace. Those with income between 100-400% of the Federal Poverty Line may be eligible for financial assistance programs designed to help pay for an insurance plan.

Eligibility

Individuals who have an income through 138% of the federal poverty level should consider getting screened for Medicaid before contacting the Marketplace or an assister. Assists the public with enrollment in the Affordable Care Act Marketplace.
