Eligibility

- Serves Portage County households with at least one (1) child age 18 and under (or through 19 if the child is still in high school), pregnant women (from conception to delivery), and (in certain cases) the non-custodial father or mother. - Family must have income which is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guideline Level. - At least one member of the family must be a United States citizen or qualified alien. - Repair must not be covered by homeowner's insurance. - Assistance is available once in a lifetime. - Assistance is limited to $2,500 in emergency repairs that directly affect the health and safety of the family. Assistance is for electric, plumbing, heat, and accessibility problems (such as wheelchair ramps).

Required documents

- Completed PRC application. - Deed/land contract, or other proof of homeownership in the name of the applicant, spouse, or parent of child in the PRC assistance group. - Repair need must be identified and verified by an approved contractor, selected through open procurement, as necessary for the health and safety of the family. - Provide proof that homeowners insurance will not cover repairs. - If needed, Agency will help clients pay for any required documentation that the client does not already have.
