Serves as a network foster care provider for children in the custody of Summit, Cuyahoga, Medina, Stark, and surrounding counties in Northeast Ohio and for Franklin County in Central Ohio. Provides temporary family living arrangements in agency-supervised private family homes for children who have been abused or neglected with the goal of reunification of the child or children with their biological parent(s) or guardian(s).

Eligibility

Becoming a foster care parent involves a home study assessment and pre-placement training classes. The criteria to become a foster parent includes: - Must be 18 years of age or older. - May be single or a couple. - Must have sufficient income to meet the financial needs of the family. - All members of the family must be in good physical, emotional and mental health. - The physical aspects of the home must meet Ohio regulations for safety and health. - Foster parents must be mature and stable individuals who can give guidance and security to a foster child. - Must have general knowledge of child care and child development. - A foster parent applicant can have no convictions for crimes related to violence, sexual abuse, drug corruption, or drug trafficking. - Must reside with 1 hour drive of Summit County or Franklin County.

Caring For Kids is a private, nonprofit, full-service adoption and foster care agency licensed in the state of Ohio. Services include free birthparent counseling, pre-adoptive home studies, foster care certification, pre-placement training, pre- and post-placement adoption counseling, post-placement assessments, post-placement reports, step-parent adoption, home studies, referral services and ongoing support. Also has programs for birthmothers who have made an adoption plan for their child including retreats and monthly meet-ups.
