Application process
For marriage license: Walk in for service. Both parties must be present. If physically incapacitated and unable to be present, physician must complete an affidavit of physical disability. Parents of females under 18 must be present. There is no waiting period between the time of the application and the issuance of the marriage license. For certified copies: walk in or may mail request.

Fixed fee, only accepts cash or money orders. No checks or credit cards.
Eligibility
Males 18 and older, females 16 and older. Females under 18 must have consent from parents or legal guardian. If consenting parent lives outside of Ohio, consent must be obtained by appearing before a judge in a court of record. Those under 18 must receive marriage counseling before marriage license is issued. One person (of the couple applying) must reside in Geauga County. If both persons reside outside of Ohio, then may still apply if ceremony is performed in Geauga County. FOR COPIES: No restrictions.

The Juvenile Division also hears all traffic offenses committed by persons under eighteen years of age, and has jurisdiction in adult cases involving paternity, child abuse, nonsupport, and failure to send children to school.
