Culinary/Food Service Training | Edwins Leadership & Restaurant Institute

Provides comprehensive training for work in a gourmet food establishment including restaurant work, a butcher shop and bakery. Topics may include classes on how to prepare a variety of foods, wines, restaurant management, restaurant law, ethics, responsibilities when serving alcoholic beverages, history of the hospitality industry and others. Students are trained to provide a Parisian-style menu with gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. Eligible students may reside on organization's dormitory/test kitchen campus. Housing may also be available for those who have completed the program. Service includes a monthly stipend during training. Successful completion of the program may result in certifications that are accepted in the food service industry.

Varies. New Classes begin every 6-8 weeks. Orientation is offered weekly on Fridays at 9:00am. Training is approximately 6 months long.

Eligibility

Ages 18 and older. Program targets but is not limited to those who have been incarcerated or veterans or homeless at some point in their lives. Housing is available after 30 days for those who meet standards.
