Eligibility
Must be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified non-citizen. Reside in a state with an active major disaster declaration, and in a county that has been designated for Individual Assistance. Must have necessary expenses that were directly caused by the declared disaster that were not already covered by insurance or other forms of disaster assistance. Apply for assistance within 18 months of the date the President declared the disaster.

Applications may be completed by phone or online. As part of the application process, FEMA may verify reported damage through an on-site or remote inspection of the property.
