Application process
Phone or walk-in for information or service, including registration for the monthly fee payment plan - preferably no later than 30 minutes before closing daily. All other reinstatement requirements such as court appearances, clearing suspensions in other states, community service or filing of proof of insurance must also be completed before full driving privileges can be restored. Regional service centers provide full-service for reinstatement. If participating in the fee payment plan, license is restored immediately upon showing proof of insurance and paying the first check. Once reinstated, if the license is expired more than six months, will have to re-take the driving test. Best to call before walking in to ensure one has the proper documents regarding the particular suspension. May also call or visit web site any time to pay fees. If a class is needed may visit website to locate companies that provide driving classes.
Fee
Those with fees greater than $150 may be eligible for a $50/month payment plan to pay off suspended license fees. Reinstatement fees vary, but each situation requires a fixed fee for reinstatement. If the reinstated license is expired, individual will have to pay the fee to get a current license. When paying by phone or online, checks only are accepted.
Eligibility
Ages 16 and older with driving privileges in the state of Ohio. Reinstatement fee payment plan is only for those whose licenses are suspended due to owing more than $150 and if their licenses remain suspended because they cannot afford to pay off their fees.
