Childbirth Preparation Class | Metrohealth Medical Center
Offers a course for mothers and partners which covers many topics which are part of the birth process - labor, pain management, normal new baby behavior, new baby care, postpartum depression, etc. Each night offers a component of Lamaze technique to assist the mother. Participants receive a wealth of printed materials. Each five-week class series includes a tour of the birthing center, including a look at the birthing suites and postpartum unit. (even if they will not deliver at Metro). Participants in this course are also eligible to have the assistance of a doula (a skilled woman to assist the mother at the birth).

Application process
Phone for more information or registration (may need to leave a message, in which the call will be returned.) Can also register online. Clients should choose one series of Childbirth Preparation classes that will work with their schedule (if interested in classes at Main Campus, select a Monday or Wednesday series, not both.) It is suggested that participants enter the class around the beginning of the third trimester. Participants should try to register for the class of their choice before the sixth month of pregnancy.

Fixed fee, free if participant has any kind of government-subsidized health insurance (Medicaid, etc.).
Eligibility
Open to any pregnant woman and her partner of choice. There is no geographic restriction, age restriction, or requirement to deliver at Metro.
