TEMPORARY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR VETERANS AND FAMILIES OF VETERANS | WASHINGTON COUNTY VETERANS SERVICE COMMISSION

Provides short-term financial assistance to eligible veterans, spouses, dependent children and widows who have demonstrated a need, including rental assistance and/or mortgage payments, food assistance, assistance in paying utility bills. May use once every 90 days under Veteran Service Commission Financial Guidelines.

Eligibility

Veteran must have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, have been on active duty for reasons other than training, or have received a VA recognized service-connection disability and were discharged under HONORABLE conditions Qualified veterans and family members must be residents of the State of Ohio and residing in Washington County To be eligible for financial assistance, a definite need must be demonstrated. The wording of the law states that assistance is intended for the 'indigent", meaning veterans suffering a level of poverty in which real hardship and deprivation are suffered and comforts of life are lacking.
