Unclaimed Funds | Cuyahoga County Treasurer
Assists individuals looking for unclaimed funds they may be entitled to. Will assist with searching an unclaimed funds database, obtaining necessary documents, and filing a claim. Unclaimed funds are assets such as uncashed checks, inactive savings accounts, leftover proceeds that may be due a property owner who has lost their property due to foreclosure with a subsequent Sheriff's sale for more than the balance due on the mortgage, insurance benefits that have existed in accounts or deposits.

Application process
Claim filing is online only. May call for questions on how to use web site. Use web site any time to search for unclaimed funds and for information (click on "Unclaimed Funds") or phone during open hours. If a foreclosed property owner discovers he or she is due excess proceeds from the sheriff sale of their property, they may have to file make a court filing to receive the funds. Those who have unclaimed funds from involvement in the justice system will need to contact the Clerk of Courts.
