To register to vote, an individual must be:

  • A U.S. citizen (by birth or naturalization)
  • At least 18 years old by the general election
  • A resident of Kentucky at least 28 days prior to the general election

An individual is not eligible to register to vote if they are:

  • A convicted felon whose civil rights have not been legally restored
  • A citizen who has been judged “mentally incompetent” in a court of law
  • A citizen who claims the right to vote outside Kentucky
