Serves pet owners who are: - Experiencing homelessness while living in a transitional or emergency shelter. - Living on the streets. - Living in a campground, tent, or vehicle. - Living in inadequate housing lacking electricity, plumbing, or water. - Living in a motel for short-term stays (up to 3 months). - Couch surfing (short-term up to 3 months). - A Veteran participating in a VA Housing Program. Note: Limit of three (3) pets per owner with a maximum of three (3) pre-approved veterinary visits.

Must have name, organization, and phone number of an agency and agency worker who can verify the living situation while completing form, such as a social worker, shelter staff, homeless outreach team, and so forth. - Once approved, agency will coordinate an initial exam with a veterinarian and will pay for pre-approved veterinarian recommended treatment per emergency guidelines.

Description

Provides assistance with paying for emergency veterinary services such as pets who were hit by a car or attacked by another animal, have broken bones, are in significant pain, have penetrating wounds, ingested toxic or dangerous substances, and so forth. NOTE: Does not pay for outstanding balances or reimbursement for prior treatment. Does not pay for routine wellness checks, vaccinations, or spay/neuter services unless required to get into housing.
