Provides humane officers, employed by the agency, who respond to complaints of animal abuse, neglect, and cruelty in Geauga County. Officers are empowered to enforce state and local laws regarding proper animal care, and will initiate prosecution against offenders when warranted. Provides rescue services for domestic animals (cats, livestock) who are in life-threatening, emergency situations (such as being stuck in a stream etc.). Does not provide rescue services for dogs - must contact the County Dog Warden for canine rescue.

TO REPORT SUSPECTED ABUSE: Phone to make a report 7 days a week: Tu-Su: 12:00noon-4:00pm; if no anwer, leave a message and the call will be returned. AFTER HOURS: phone Sheriff's Dept. Callers are required to leave their name and number. Names of callers will be kept confidential. Reports may also be made through the website. IF ABUSE SITUATION IS IMMEDIATE OR IF AN ANIMAL NEEDS TO BE RESCUED: Phone Geauga County Sheriff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (they will pull in the Humane Officer, if needed).
