Financial Assistance - Breast Cancer | Breast Cancer Fund Of Ohio

Provides payment assistance to those undergoing active treatment for breast cancer. Assistance may be up to $1000, but that amount is not always available. Funding may be used for the following: temporary support of living expenses such as housing, utilities, and food; transportation to and from treatments; child care during diagnostic and treatment procedures; job training for those who lose their jobs after their diagnosis; mental health services not covered by insurance; assistance with treatment costs, prescriptions, and co-pays not covered by insurance; costs of participation in clinical trials that are not covered by insurance.

Application process

Patients should contact their care provider's social work department to submit an Application for Individual Assistance. Social worker should phone to request the application. Caller/client should not call agency directly, as they can not provide clients with money directly. MUST go through social worker.

Eligibility

Serves Ohio. Treatment center must exhaust all other resources for emergency assistance. The patient must have a cancer diagnosis and be in active treatment including, but not limited to, chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, or hospice/palliative care. Assistance is available based on agency funding. Available amount varies. Hormone therapy is not considered active treatment. Must be working with a nonprofit organization that serves breast cancer patients and has a mechanism to distribute emergency funds to them.
