To be eligible for the program, a customer must receive his/her electric or gas service from a company regulated by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), must have a total household income which is at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty level, and must apply for all energy assistance programs for which he or she is eligible. For Gas PIPP Plus, the utility must be a primary heat source.
Proof of income for the past 30 days (pay stubs, letters from Job & Family Services, Social Security, etc.) must be presented at the interview. Other required documents include: Social Security cards for all household members, proof of disability, both bills for main heating and electric utility source, and photo IDs.

Description

PIPP Plus is an extended payment arrangement that requires regulated gas and electric companies to accept payments based on a percentage of the household income. Individuals and/or /families participating in PIPP Plus are also eligible for assistance through the Electric Partnership Program to improve electric efficiency of low-income households and the Universal Service Fund.
