Emergency Assistance Program | Tuscarawas County Veterans Service Commission
Helps to meet a variety of unforseeable emergency needs for Veterans and dependent survivors. Provides food vouchers in emergency situations. May provide assistance wih rent, utility payments and mortgage payments. Assists with burial expenses for indigent Veterans. Will provide motel vouchers for homeless clients who need short-term temporary shelter (during the short-term placement, agency will connect the client to homeless services through Veterans Affairs).

Eligibility
- Must be an honorably discharged Veteran with at least 90 days of active military service beyond training (but active duty service members may qualify). Note: Dependents of Veterans may also apply. - Must reside in Tuscarawas County for three (3) months immediately prior to application for financial assistance. - To be eligible for financial assistance, a definite need must be demonstrated. NOTE: The wording of the law states that assistance is intended for the 'indigent" (meaning Veterans suffering a level of poverty in which real hardship and deprivation are suffered and comforts of life are lacking).
