- Free tax preparation assistance available to individuals and couples that have an earned income and adjusted gross income (AGI) of $68,675 or less during the 2025 tax year. - Both spouses must be present if filing a joint return.
Bring the following documents to the appointment. Additional documentation may be requested when scheduling an appointment. Call for details. - Photo ID for the tax filer (and spouse, if filing jointly). - Social Security Card, official correspondence from Social Security Administration that includes Social Security Number, or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) letter for all people listed on the return. - If Married Filing Jointly both persons must be available to review and sign the tax return. - Health insurance information (Forms 1095-A, Affordable Health Care Statement) for all listed on the return, if applicable. - Wage and earning statements such as W-2 / W-2G / 1099-R / 1099-Misc. / 1099-B. - Alimony paid and received, if applicable. - Interest and dividend statements from banks (Form 1099INT(s) and 1099DIV(s). - Documentation of total paid for child care, and child care provider's Social Security or Employer ID Number, and address. - Documentation of educational expenses (such as the 1098-T Tuition Statement). - Information and documentation for medical expenses paid from Health Savings Account (HSA). - If itemizing: Bring a copy of last year's Federal and state returns, home mortgage interest (Form 1098), charitable contribution(s), medical expenses and mileage, and real estate taxes, if applicable. - If receiving refund by direct deposit, provide a blank check showing the routing and account numbers. Cannot use a deposit slip or debit card unless a routing and account number is provided. - Any other relevant tax information about income and expenses, including any correspondence received from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Appointments available beginning Saturday January 24th through Saturday May 30th, 2026, depending on location. - Community Action Akron Summit located at 670 West Exchange Street in Akron (44302): Appointments available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:30am to 3:00pm and 5:30pm to 7:30pm as well as Saturdays from 9:30am to 3:00pm, Saturday January 24th through Saturday May 30th, 2026. - Mobile Tax Prep: Located at 670 West Exchange Street in Akron (44302). Appointments available Mondays from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, Monday February 3rd through Monday April 27th, 2026. - Ohio Means Jobs Summit: Appointments available Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:00am to 3:00pm, Tuesday February 3rd through Friday April 10th, 2026. Closed on Friday April 3rd, 2026 for Good Friday. - Kent State University, 125 Midway Drive, Kent (44242): Walk-ins Only on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00am to 2:00pm from Saturday February 28th through Friday April 3rd, 2026. Closed on March 13th and 14th, 2026 for Spring Break.
