Weekend Intervention Program (wip) | Weekend Intervention Program, Inc.
The Weekend Intervention Program (WIP) for impaired drivers is a component of an interdisciplinary effort linking the area's courts and substance abuse treatment agencies. WIP is an intensive, three-day residential program to which persons involved in a drug or alcohol offense may be remanded by a court or other agency. The intervention approach offers a method of alcohol/drug assessment, diagnosis and treatment induction that is both therapeutically and cost effective. It works in tandem with the community's criminal justice and human service systems.

The Weekend Intervention Program (WIP) offers residential based assessment and alcohol education to persons arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Persons in need of service may also volunteer for the program. The length of the program is a 48 or 72 hour weekend. WIP has a proven record for reducing recidivism and moving individuals with alcohol or other drug issues out of the legal system and into the treatment arena. Participants work closely with licensed professional staff who utilize state of the art motivational interviewing and intervention techniques that help individuals become more receptive to the resources and assistance available to them to address alcohol/drug issues.
