Call the office with air-related complaints and questions. Complaints may concern activities of the private or public sector, such as plant emissions or neighborhood open burning.

Service area

Stark County, Ohio
Provides local management and protection of the county's outside air quality through contract from Ohio EPA. Works to protect Stark County citizens from the adverse health and welfare impacts of air pollution by attaining and maintaining ambient air quality standards. Offers various services such as preparing permits for stationary industrial air pollution sources, performing facility inspections for permit compliance, performing complaint investigations, performing open burning compliance inspections and permissions, and pursuing enforcement actions for non-compliance.
  • Performs similar work activities for state and federal regulations governing the removal, handling and disposal of asbestos as it relates to renovation and demolition of buildings.
  • Performs ambient air quality monitoring of ozone, particulate, and lead for comparison to federal air quality standards.
  • NOTE: Air pollution sources include industrial smoke stacks, industrial equipment, perchloroethylene from dry cleaners, gasoline stations, vehicle tampering, open burning, asbestos releases, roadways and other areas that generate dust.
