Utility Service Payment Assistance (HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM-HEAP) | Self

Eligibility

Open to residents of Butler County at or below 175% federal poverty guidelines who have utility service from an electric or natural gas company regulated by the Public Utility Commission of Ohio.

Note: Examples of eligible heating sources include natural gas, electric, fuel oil/kerosene, propane, coal, wood, or pellets, etc.

Application process

Application required, to apply you can:

  1. Apply online
  2. Mail in application to listed mailing address. Applications can be found online or picked up at local a JFS, library, Area on Aging agency, or your local energy assistance provider.
  3. Create an appointment with your local energy assistance provider.
Fees

None to apply.

Service area

Offers a heating bill credit to eligible households through the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) one time per year. Assistance is applied directly to the bill for a household's primary heating source. Applications are accepted between July 1st and May 31st.
