- Must be at least 18 years old to become a foster parent or foster-to-adopt parent. - Must live in Summit County or one of the contiguous counties (Cuyahoga, Geauga, Medina, Portage, Stark, or Wayne). - Married, single, divorced, widowed, or be a co-parent. - Rent or own your home, but must have adequate space available and have landlord’s approval to take in foster children. - All adult household members must have a criminal background check. - Other eligibility requirements may also apply.

Call the Foster Care and Adoption Inquiry Line or visit the website for more information. Potential foster/adoptive parents should attend one of the bi-monthly information meetings. At the meeting, families will learn more about the foster care and adoption process, the kinds of supportive services available to families and about the children in the agency's care.

No fee for foster/adoptive parents. The foster parents receive a reimbursement check each month for the care of each child. Foster parents receive an initial clothing voucher, mileage reimbursement, and all medical and dental care for foster children is provided by Akron Children's Hospital and community dental providers.
