Substitute home care for children and adolescents whose parents are temporarily unable to care for them. Program includes foster home recruitment and training and support services to children served, foster families and birth parents. Includes traditional, specialized and therapeutic foster care.

Eligibility

Maximum age of children in foster care is 17. Serves all of Ohio. Foster parents must be physically and mentally able to function as a parent and must be 21 years old or older.

Applewood Centers

Provides behavioral healthcare, special education, and social services for children, youth, and families. Offers a multi-disciplinary staff, including licensed counselors, social workers, teachers, nurses, psychologists and psychiatrists. Services include outpatient counseling, psychiatry, residential services, adoption, foster care, in-home and school-based services, internship programs and research partnerships. Provides the site for a residential treatment program for youth with both substance abuse and mental health issues. Operates five sites in Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties.
