Eligibility

All veterans of all branches of the United States armed services including Reservists, National Guard, and Air Defense.

Required documents

Document proving identity: Valid photo ID including driver's license, state ID card (from any state), passport. Document proving date of birth: birth certificate, DD-214 (original or a Veterans Administration certified copy) or other documents proving nature of discharge (such as NGB form 22 for Army National Guard or Air National Guard). Documents pertaining to a name change are also required (marriage, divorce, or other papers).

Description

Keeps copies of DD-214 discharge papers and NGB form 22 (for Army National Guard or Air National Guard) on file for veterans and issues a wallet-sized card with photo proving they have honorable or "other than dishonorable" discharge papers filed with the county. Card can be used for veterans' services and for services that are discounted for veterans.

Provides certified Veterans' Service Officers (VSOs) who perform case management for veterans, screening them for available services and filing claims for benefits.
