Prevention, Retention And Contingency (prc) - Housing / Utilities | Geauga County Job And Family Services

Provides vouchers to assist with past due house/apartment/mobile home lot rent payments, mortgage payment (will help with first month's rent but not security deposits - $1,000 maximum per 12 month period); utility bill payment assistance (including gas, electric, bulk fuel water - $500 maximum per 12 month period). May also assist with the purchase or repair of major appliances ($750 maximum per calendar year). May assist with the purchase of bed frame, box springs, mattress, cribs and child beds ($500 maximum in 12 month period). Provides up to $2000 in moving expenses in certain cases (once per lifetime). In some cases may be able to help with home repair services (generally, only enough to cover a small repair). May consider assisting with other housing related needs at the discretion of the agency. Does not assist with PIPP Plus payments.

*Serves Geauga County households with Income must be 175% of the Federal poverty level or less. *Must have at least one child under the age of 18 (or through age 18 if the child is still in high school) or be pregnant (from conception to delivery). * At least one household member must be employed or agree to enroll in Ohio Means Jobs employment program OR one or more of the following: leaving a homeless shelter, a victim of domestic violence, involved with a case with child/adult protective services and re-establishing a household. *Applicants must explore other community resources that may meet the current need. *For RENT: A summons to appear in housing court, a court-ordered eviction notice, or a notice of 30 or more days late is REQUIRED, UNLESS the applicant is leaving a homeless or domestic violence shelter. * For ELECTRIC AND/OR GAS ASSISTANCE: must utilize HEAP (if available) and enroll in PIPP Plus (if eligible to do so). * For UTILITY HELP: a disconnection notice is required UNLESS the applicant is eligible for OWF and declines it during the month he/she applies for PRC. The bill/disconnection notice must be in the applicant's name *MOVING EXPENSES: must need to move to another area in order to start at a job (job must have already been secured) OR be a victim of domestic violence *At least one member of the family must be a U.S. citizen or qualified alien. *DOES NOT SERVE fugitive felons, and those who have been convicted of program fraud where repayment has not yet occurred. SANCTIONED PERSONS CAN STILL QUALIFY if applying for PRC within 30 days of the end of the sanction period.
