Expungement / Record Sealing / License Reinstatement | Cuyahoga County Office Of Reentry

Provides a central application process for those who want to expunge or seal their criminal record (including records of conviction and/or charges that did not result in a conviction) or who need assistance with navigating the process of restoring their driving privileges (license reinstatement). An expungement allows a criminal case to be removed (record is sealed) from the records of persons who have committed or been convicted of committing a crime, who have been found not guilty, or whose case has been dismissed. Generally, records can be sealed for first-time offenders only. Crimes such as murder and rape cannot be sealed. Assistance with the process is provided by a number of agencies.

Application process

Go to website to apply anytime. The application will be forwarded to another agency who will reach out to the client requesting help. Once the client applies, it may take two weeks before a representative from one of the providing agencies gets back to the client (in some cases, it may be up to two months depoending on the complexity of the client's needs).
