Application process

Parents/guardians must register each child in person. Call for registration hours. Bilingual students and special needs students will need to be enrolled through those offices before being assigned to schools. See bilingual education and special education information for details. Initially, students are assigned to schools based on the address of the parent or legal guardian. During the annual open enrollment period early each calendar year, families can visit the district's web site where they can learn about school options and decide if they want to choose a school for their students. The open enrollment period ends with a lottery where names of those wanting to choose their school are randomly picked to enroll for the following academic year. After the open enrollment period ends, students who still want to choose a school will be enrolled through a first-come, first-served process based on available capacity. Once a school is determined for a student, registration is available during open hours at neighborhood schools during the academic year, August-May or at the main site M-F: 8:30am-5:00pm. Call individual school for specific times. Summer registration June-July is at specific, designated sites M-F: 8:30am-5:00pm. Students must have current immunizations and current physical exams prior to the start of school. Sign up for transportation when enrolling.
