Serves Veterans who are honorably discharged or general discharge under other than dishonorable conditions OR died while on active duty. For veterans buried at a national cemetery, their spouse, dependents, and in some cases, parents, may be eligible for burial there also, inquire for details. BURIAL FLAGS: veterans who served during wartime or after Jan. 31, 1955 OR was or would have been entitled to retirement pay in the Reserves OR members or former members of the Selected Reserve, mainly those who served at least one enlistment. In some cases, may offer some services to family members (spouse, children) of veterans, inquire for details. MEMORIAL CERTIFICATES: veterans' relatives, mainly spouse, children, and/or parents. HEADSTONE OR MARKER (at a private cemetery): inquire for complete eligibility requirements.

If death occurs in a VA facility, contact that facility for assistance. To schedule burial, fax discharge documentaion to National Scheduling Office and follow up with a phone call. Description

Services offered will vary with the cemetery. Provides a headstone or marker to be placed at any cemetery but does not pay for placement of the headstone or marker if not at a national cemetary. VA will pay up to $796 toward burial and funeral expenses for deaths on or after October 1, 2019 (if hospitalized by VA at time of death), or $300 toward burial and funeral expenses (if not hospitalized by VA at time of death), and a $796 plot-interment allowance (if not buried in a national cemetery). Provides United States burial flags and memorial certificates.
