Application process

Visit website anytime for more information and to start the application process or renewal. May also call for information. Renewing a notary commission may begin up to 90 days in advance. Classes can be taken in person or watch an online video. Once finished with the class component, can take the test either in-person or online. Once the test is passed, Ohio Notary Services will provide them with all the information they need in order to complete the process and receive their commission from the Secretary of State.

Fee

Fixed fee for application, and, for those who are not lawyers, fixed fee also for renewal every five years.

Eligibility

Must be a Ohio resident who is age 18 or older, and either a lawyer licensed to practice in Ohio, a registered voter, or a registered alien. Must not have been convicted of a criminal offense.
