Application process

No identifying information from a Kentucky adoption record may be released without an order from the court that finalized the adoption. To request a court order, an adopted person must file a Petition to Inspect Adoption Records. Adult adoptees who have received the appropriate court order will only have access to identifying information if their birth family has provided consent.

Fees

  • $0.25 per page for copies of records, with an additional $5.00 fee if records are to be certified.
  • $198 fee if a birth parent search must be conducted to obtain consent/denial to release records.
