SCAT: Serves individuals age 62 and over and individuals with a temporary or permanent disability that prohibits the passenger from using the regular line service. For individuals with a disability an application must be completed by both the applicant and their doctor and approved by SCAT. ADA: Serves individuals with functional disabilities within the ADA corridor that meet one of the following criteria: - Due to the individual's disability, the individual is unable to board, ride or exit an accessible vehicle that is part of the regular METRO service. - Are able to use accessible vehicles, but accessible vehicles are not available at the needed time. - Are able to ride accessible buses, but the individual's disability prevents the individual from getting to and from the bus stop. Note: Depending on the disability, certification may be temporary, conditional, seasonal, restricted, or permanent.

- To schedule a trip on SCAT, individuals must be a registered passenger with the Customer Care Department. Individuals age 62 or older may call the METRO SELECT Scheduling Line to register over the phone. - Individuals with disabilities must apply for SCAT or ADA services following the procedures outlined below. - Once an individual has been registered and, if necessary, approved to schedule a SCAT or ADA trip, call the METRO SELECT Scheduling Line from 7:00am to 5:00pm the day before the desired trip. If the caller is planning a Monday trip, call the prior Friday for a reservation. When calling, must provide SCAT ID number, appointment time or the time to be dropped off and return time, the destination address, and inform staff of any mobility devices used or special equipment needed. The individual will be given a time window to be ready for the driver. Drivers cannot wait. To schedule a return trip, callers must make arrangements when scheduling pick-up or must call the METRO SELECT Return Trip Line. - Individuals with a disability that prohibits them from using regular line service may call to request a SCAT or ADA application. The application must be completed by both the applicant and their doctor. Once SCAT receives a completed application, staff will review it and issue the applicant a photo ID if the individual is eligible. - Individuals with a functional disability wanting to use METRO’s ADA service may call to request a METRO ADA Complementary Paratransit Service application. Once Customer Care receives a completed application, staff will review it and contact the applicant so the applicant can make an appointment for a required functional assessment by Summa Western Reserve Hospital’s Easy Street. There is NO charge for the one-hour functional assessment and METRO will provide transportation to the functional assessment if requested. After assessment, METRO will send applicant a letter of approval or denial.

Drivers accept Mobile Ticketing, METRO fare cards, and cash and cannot make change. - SCAT: $2.00 each way (may take a companion for an additional $2.00). - ADA: $2.50 each way (may take a personal care attendant {PCA} at no additional charge).

Description

Offers pre-arranged transportation service for older adults and persons with disabilities in Summit County. SCAT is a weekday origin-to-destination shared ride service for qualified riders. SCAT uses small buses and contracted vehicles to transport passengers to and from their desired end point. ADA Paratransit is available for eligible individuals with a functional disability on the same days, hours, and areas as the fixed routes within the ADA corridor. SCAT can take qualified passengers to "necessary'' trips including work, higher educational institutions and medical, dental, or nursing/independent living facility appointments. Eligibility determines eligible trip types.
