Provides a general home safety inspection. Reviews other safety measures the homeowner may be able to complete on their own. Based on the results of the inspection, volunteers may do the following: - Install handrails. - Install or repair steps. - Install CO2 or smoke detectors. - Install grab bars and other safety equipment. - Enhance lighting. - Check the furnace filter. - Repair broken windows (boarding up window or minor repairs). - Reviews other safety measures the homeowner may be able to complete on their own.

Eligibility

- Serves homeowners age 62 and over OR individuals age 18 and over with a diagnosed disability. - Must be low-income. Household income must be 50% of Area Median Income. - Homeowner must occupy the home and property must be in homeowner's name. - Homeowner must have owned the home for at least one (1) year. - Homeowner must be current on property tax payments and homeowner's insurance. - Home must be a single or double-unit. - Homeowner must reside in Cuyahoga, Portage, Stark, and Summit counties. - Mobile homes are not eligible.
