Description
Provides formal supervision for those awaiting trial or on community control (probation) as ordered by the court. Supervises probationers and monitors compliance to the conditions of their probation as well as providing other services such as referrals for social services. Provides specialized probation services for those needing intensive supervision such as those with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and sex offenders. Places offenders into drug treatment when needed. Provides case management for those in drug treatment and acts as a liaison between the court, client, and treatment facility. Also supervises persons in the work release and home detention programs.

Operates as a division of the Geauga County Common Pleas Court and deals with civil, criminal, and domestic cases. Holds exclusive original criminal jurisdiction of felonies and original jurisdiction in all civil cases where the amount in controversy is greater than $500.
