Provides up to $300 gas bill assistance to help individuals and families avoid disconnection or to reconnect their service. Assists with the heating bill and reconnection fees. NOTE: This is a program of last resort.

Hours

Service by appointment on Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 3:30pm. Registration begins the first working day in December and ends the last working day of May (or until funds are depleted).

Application process

- Call the office for more information and to check on availability of funds. - If agency is having issues with their phone line, may contact them via email or Facebook. NOTE: Funds are extremely limited and are distributed to each site on a semi-regular basis in a series of small allotments. Once each allotments is exhausted, the site will stop scheduling appointments until the new funding arrives. In some cases, client may be asked to call back for an appointment at a later date as the amount of appointments available may vary from time to time.

Eligibility

- Must reside in Tuscarawas County. - Must be a Dominion customer. - Must have a shut-off notice or be age 60 and over. - Must have already applied for and received E-HEAP (during Winter Crisis program) and received a subsequent bill. - Must exhaust all other forms of assistance before applying. - Must have a gross Income at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty Guideline Limit. Or head of household is unemployed or experiencing a personal/family crisis (such as a sudden loss or reduction of household income, house fire, massive unforeseen medical expenses). - Will not serve energy diversion customers (those suspected tampering with gas meters). - Will not serve customers with bills or unpaid balances older than one heating season. - Individual whose name is on the bill must apply (and must reside at the residence). NOTE: Other household members may not apply. - May only receive service once per year. - If the fee to reconnect is more than $300, then the client will have to provide the balance of the payment before assistance will be given.
