DEBT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (DMP) | APPRISEN
Offers a repayment program in which the creditors agree to set up lower monthly payments for the debt. The client makes all payments to the agency, which then sends the money to the creditors. The client agrees to stop buying on credit and to stick to the budget that is worked out with the credit counselor. Can only help with "unsecured debt" such as: credit cards, debt collectors, and some personal loans. In some cases, can help with utility arrearages. Does not help with "secured debt" such as back taxes, government secured student loans, or car loans.
