Ages birth through grade 12 (age 21) and their families who would be eligible to attend school in Eastern Cuyahoga County school districts, including these communities: Beachwood, Bedford, Bedford Heights, Bentleyville, Chagrin Falls Twp., Chagrin Falls Village, Cleveland Heights, East Cleveland, Euclid, Garfield Heights, Gates Mills, Glenwillow, Highland Hills, Highland Heights, Hunting Valley, Lyndhurst, Maple Heights, Mayfield Heights, Mayfield Village, Moreland Hills, North Randall, Oakwood, Orange Village, Pepper Pike, Richmond Heights, Shaker Heights, Solon, University Heights, Walton Hills, Warrensville Heights, and Woodmere. Serves all school districts in Lake and Geauga counties. Serves parts of Portage and Medina counties. School districts from outside these areas may also refer to this program.

Description

Provides public special education for hearing impaired children. Program components include parent-infant-toddler play based activities. a half or whole day language-intensive preschool segment, a full-day K-5 elementary school, middle school support, and a high school secondary hearing impairment segment. Support services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, school psychological and counseling services, on-going speech-language assessments, speech therapy, inclusion in main-stream classes as appropriate, interaction with hearing peers, parent conferences and home visits. and support groups for parents, and those who have Cochlear Implants.
