Legal Counsel - Indigent Juvenile Or Custody Cases | Cuyahoga County Public Defender
Provides legal representation to eligible people in unruly and delinquency matters. Also provides legal representation for parents of children who have been removed from the home by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), mainly dependency, abuse, and neglect cases. Will also represent incarcerated parents who are involved in a county custody case.

Application process
For delinquency cases: Best time to walk in is between 9:00am-12:00noon and 2:00pm-4:00pm. For custody cases involving the county's child-serving agency , phone M-F: 8:30am-4:30pm to make an appointment. Those who cannot afford the fee may file an Affidavit of Poverty with the court. It is best to phone early in the day.

Fixed application fee, which may be waived in some cases; may have some court costs.
Eligibility
Serves youth under age 18 and, in certain cases, serves those 18 and older if crime was committed as a minor. Serves parents whose children have been removed from the home by the county department of children and family services. Family must income eligibility requirements.
