Provides two (2) residential substance abuse treatment programs (Root House - a 10 bed center for men and Portage Area Treatment Center - a 23 bed center for women). Residents participate in counseling and 12-step meetings and are provided with case management to link them to appropriate community services such as income and employment supports. Note: No medical services are provided through this program. Outpatient after care services are provided as needed.

- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. - Program is generally 90 days long, but there is no time limit.
Application process
Client must first call Mental Health and Counseling Services Monday through Thursday from 9:00am to 9:00pm and Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm for a brief screening. Mental Health and Counseling staff will then make a referral. There may be a waiting list for this program or service.
Fee
Accepts payment via Medicaid only.
Eligibility
Serves residents of Portage County, age 18 and over, with a substance use disorder. - Root House serves men. Portage Area Recovery Center serves women. - Must be clean and sober before entering program (those who need detox must have already completed a program). - Note: Program can not accept those convicted of arson or sex offenses. Potential clients will be given a background check, however, not all offenses will bar the client from entry to this program.
