Serves Ohio Direction Card (Food Stamp) recipients residing in Darke County who have lost food due to a power outage, fire, or flood. In the case of a loss of electricity - power must have been out for at least four hours or more due to a situation beyond the client's control (a shut-off due to a lack of payment does not count). Will only help with replacement due to flooding or other disaster if the incident is a governor declared emergency. Replacement funds may be granted only twice in a six month period.
Client will need to complete a "Statement Requesting Replacement of Food Assistance Benefits" form. Client should phone their utility provider's customer service department to request written verification of power outage and its duration. For fires, client will need documentation from the Red Cross.

Client must return application to the agency (on site or by mail) within 10 days of the reported loss. Once complete application is submitted, a prorated credit will be added to the Direction Card generally, within 24 hours after the start of the next business day (however, this may be longer when there is a high volume of applications). To obtain verification of the outage, the client should phone their utility provider's customer service department to request verification of the outage and its duration (verification will then be mailed or faxed to the client).
