- This regional office serves children (age 5 and over) with physical or developmental disabilities, and adults with physical or auditory disabilities, and Veterans with a Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) diagnosis or physical or auditory disabilities. Medical alert dogs are for individuals experiencing life-threatening blood sugar fluctuations due to insulin-dependent diabetes. - Must be independently mobile. - Must have the means and resources to care for a service dog. - Visit the website for other eligibility criteria.

- Application process may take 2-8 months and individuals may be placed on a waitlist. Selected applicants asked to attend a 2-week Team Training course. - Diabetic medical alert dog applications are open from January 1st to April 30th each year.

Dogs are provided at virtually no cost to the graduates. All the expenses of breeding, raising, and training a Canine Companion are funded through private donations.
