ENROLLMENT - OPEN PERIOD TO REQUEST SCHOOL CHOICE JANUARY-MARCH | CLEVELAND METROPOLITAN SCHOOL DISTRICT
Provides the opportunity to express a preference for the school a parent would like their child(ren) to attend for the upcoming academic year. Parents may choose up to 8 schools in order of preference. Depending on response, a lottery to decide who attends may be held for some sites.

Open enrollment starts annually. For the 2020/2021 school year, high school choice portal opens Monday, December 2, 2019. The first round closes March 13, 2020.
Application process
If families want to remain in the school their child currently attends, and if the grade the child will attend will be offered during the next academic year, families need not choose a school. If wanting to indicate preferences, visit web site and create an account to register for lottery. May also call M-F: 9:00am-5:00pm to make an appointment to get help in person with open enrollment process if unable to use computer. At conclusion of open enrollment, any site that has more applicants than slots will have a lottery to see who is accepted to the school for the upcoming year. Results of the lottery will be available after Friday, March 26, 2018. Those who are not current students of the district who gain enrollment at any district school will need to complete registration at the school or main site after March 26, including proof of acceptance to a Criteria School (see HOURS OF SERVICE for current list) if they have been accepted during the spring open enrollment. Current students of the district who are accepted to any school during open enrollment need not do anything.

Children must be age 5 by September 30 of the year in order to attend kindergarten during the academic year.District serves Cleveland, Bratenahl, parts of Brook Park and Garfield Heights, Newburgh Heights, and Linndale but interested individuals may apply from anywhere.
