Provides a opportunity for those who wish to be a Volunteer Guardian. Guardians are appointed by Probate Court to make decisions for persons deemed legally incompetent to make their own day-to-day decisions of a personal nature. Volunteer will maintain a supportive relationship with the person they're protecting. Also accepts volunteers for The Crime Victim Services Guardian Program which recruits, screens and trains volunteers to be sworn in at Allen County Probate Court as 'Guardian of the Person' for an individual deemed appropriate for the program. Elder Victim Ministry helps elder victims aged 60 and older prevail over the trauma of a victimization through direct services in the areas of safety, healing, justice and restitution. Volunteer guardians make important life decisions for their protected person, monitoring healthcare and approving medical procedures, attending care conferences, approving and coordinating living arrangements and home care services. Interns are used in the Court Advocacy programs working with victims of crime along side their Advocate mentors.
