Summer Youth | Goodwill Industries Of South Central Ohio

Provides a 5-week summer employment program for youth. Participants receive a paid work experience at different business partner locations and they are accompanied by a job coach who provides on-the-job training. Summer youth employers are typically in the retail or food service industries but other employers may also participate. Participants explore careers and receive soft skills and job readiness training and may take part in job shadowing visits. The program also provides pre-employment services that help them identify and achieve their employment goals.

Eligibility

Serves ages 14-21 who are residents of Ross, Pike, Hocking, Fayette, Pickaway, Athens, Jackson, or Vinton counties. Will help those with physical and intellectual disabilities; those with mental health issues, such as anxiety disorders and PTSD; ex-offenders; and those who have had issues with substance use. Agency assists clients in getting an eligibility assessment from Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities or the county Developmental Disabilities board.
