Mainly helps with immediate needs and generally only during the first few days or weeks following a disaster. Provides assistance such as temporary shelter (usually up to three days), food, clothing, crisis counseling, and possibly one month's rent or security deposit. Flooding must affect the main living areas and not just the basement. Does not provide help for secondary related problems such as flooding from sewer backup, does not offer replacement/repair of items such as furniture, appliances or a furnace and does not provide food replacement or other assistance needed due to power outages. Does not assist those forced out of their home due to a Carbon Monoxide issue, unless forced out in the middle of the night and in immediate danger, then will try to assist.
