FOSTER YOUTH ADVOCACY CENTER | CAPITAL UNIVERSITY

Multidisciplinary center that serves as a resource for emancipating youth and former foster youth ages 18-25. Provides life-planning and legal resource information for foster youth, including limited representation. Specific areas include understanding legal documents, including leases, loan documents, living wills and powers of attorney; accessing independent living needs, including health care, public benefits, Benefit Bank applications, insurance, housing and unemployment; accessing higher education, including application assistance, understanding school loans and financial aid; restoring personal information, including accessing birth certificates, name change, driver's license, curing identity theft and expunging juvenile records; and developing skills in self-advocacy within the court system, school, community and for future independence.
