Provides up to $20,000 in down payment assistance to qualifying households wishing to purchase a home available under the Newport Homeownership Development Housing Project. Assistance is provided as a forgiveable loan.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be able to secure their own first mortgage financing
  • Have been employed for at least the past 12 months
  • Have favorable criminal history
  • Have a household income at least 40% of the Area Median Income and up to or less than 80% of the Area Median Income
  • Successfully complete Homebuyer Education training
