COMPEER | MENTAL HEALTH AMERICA OF LICKING COUNTY

The Compeer program invites people in Licking County that experience severe and persistent mental health issues to become members. The program's objectives include decreasing the isolation of individuals in the community who experience severe and persistent mental illness through social inclusion; supporting and educating program participants about available community resources and to assist them in achieving their personal goal(s); promoting community engagement and integration leading to social acceptance and esteem; providing community education about mental health; and educating participants about mental and physical health and wellness. It is through these focused efforts that the Compeer program works to reduce stigmatizing attitudes in the community. Compeer provides multiple events monthly and weekly art group sessions at no charge.

Hours

Office hours are Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. Program activities vary days of the week. There are some daytime and early evening activities, typically two or three activities each month, year round. Participants choose activities in which they participate.

Application process

Participants apply with a referral from a physical or mental health care provider. The staff will meet with applicants, giving them an opportunity to ask questions. Community volunteers also apply and have background checks.

Eligibility

Program participants apply at anytime with referral and interview with coordinator. Individuals who experience mental illness are referred by health care provider and/or request referral.
