Provides year-round drug disposal through a vault that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Accepts: Prescription and over the counter tablets, capsules and liquid dosage. Intravenous solutions, injectables and needles. We DO NOT accept: Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine. Containers: You may leave medications in original containers, but it is not necessary. Personal information: This program is free and anonymous. Personal information will be cut off the original containers and destroyed.

Application process

Medications can be dropped off at the Muskingum County Jail lobby. Just walk up, press the buzzer, and they will let you in to drop off your medications into the permanent vault. Check with local pharmacies as they may also accept many types of unused medications. The State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy provides the public with safe disposal instructions for both unused prescription drugs and medical waste products.
