Provides assistance for Enbridge customers to increase the energy efficiency of homes and reduce household energy expenditures. Services include: safety inspection of gas appliances, carbon monoxide alarms, education on energy saving, insulation, as well as inspection, repair, and possible replacement of furnace and hot water tank (as if warranted), and customer education. Services provided through contracted agencies. Service provided depends on the assessment of the property. Not a rehab program. Home must not be vacant and utilities must be on.

Application process

Visit website to apply or for information - click on the "Housing & Community Services" tab and select "Energy Efficiency Services." May also phone to receive an application. Return completed application and all documentation via mail or in-person to the main site during business hours. During HEAP season, client may simply fill in the check box for weatherization assistance on the HEAP application. There may be a waiting period of up to six weeks during the warmer months (late Spring through early Fall). If the caller has no heat or hot water due to a non-working appliance (furnace or hot water tank) call main number for assistance. There is no outreach / home bound appointments for this service, if caller needs assistance with the application please direct the caller to the Department of Aging.

Fee

Free for applicants who own the home. A landlord contribution may be required if renting.

Eligibility

Enbridge Ohio customers with a household income up to 200% of the federal poverty guidelines. Homeowner must be current on property taxes. Residence cannot exceed 4 units; multifamily residences must be individually metered. Client may apply for this service once every 5 years. Emergency program: Furnace and/or Hot Water Tank must not be working properly.
