Application process
Client should first apply for assistance with their county Veterans Service Commission (VSC). If assistance is not available through the VSC (or if the VSC can't cover the entire cost of the assistance needed), then the veteran can apply for this program. the agency encourages clients to see if a VSC Service Officer can apply and advocate on the veterans behalf. If the veteran is already working with a social worker at Veterans Affairs (VA), they should request that their VA Social Worker make the application on their behalf (in most cases, this will lessen the amount of paperwork and time needed to complete the application). However, the veteran may apply on their own behalf if they wish. Application is available through the website (go to website, hit the RESOURCES drop-down menu, then hit FORMS AND LINKS, and select REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FORM. Application may be downloaded and then mailed or emailed back. May phone M-F: 9:00am-3:00pm for more information.
