Ged/High School Equivalency Testing Process | Ohio Department Of Education And Workforce
Administers and scores high school equivalency tests that are accepted in substitution for diplomas when individuals have not achieved a standard high school diploma. Tests have multiple subject sections, including mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies. Offers practice tests as well as study materials to help individuals prepare to take the test. Also offers re-testing of all or part of the test. Those who complete the tests successfully receive a credential that proves they have passed.

Application process
Applicant will need to set up an online account through testing service web site in order to schedule and pay for the test. Ages 16-17 must mail to the state High School Equivalency Office an original, notarized testing consent form (available online from state department of education web site) signed by parent/guardian, and a school withdrawal form signed by a school district official before they can complete online registration. Age 18 applicants will need to fill out and mail the school withdrawal form signed by a school official. No faxes are accepted. Ages 16-18 will receive an e-mail from the testing service confirming their documents were received in order to complete their online registration. Fee
Fixed fee, but amounts will vary, depending on the test being taken. Payment online only. Accepts credit cards (VISA, Mastercard, American Express) or cash cards with correct amount, typically purchased from retailers such as Wal~Mart. No checks or money orders accepted. Vouchers to reduce the test will provide a code that test takers will be prompted to enter when paying. If re-testing a section that was failed previously, will only pay fee on area being re-tested. Eligibility
Serves Ohio residents age 16 and over. If over 18 but younger than 19, must either show documents from superintendent of district last attended or district where currently living. Must attach school transcript from school last attended to show class has graduated. There is no limit to the number of times an individual can take the test overall.
